Expanding consciousness through the power of sound
Events
Sunday 22nd February
6pm
Immerse yourself in the rhythmic sounds of the drum in this heart-centred drumming circle.
If you have never picked up a drum before, or if you are a seasoned drummer, this event is for you. This session will include guides and cues, but there will still be plenty of time for freestyle drumming!
We will start the session with a warming cup of heart-opening cacao, lovingly prepared by Rose. Once the cacao has nicely warmed us through, we will then have some fun drumming together! The drumming circle will be led by Nikki.
Following our drumming session, we will move into intuitive movement to music where you will be encouraged to connect internally and simply move however the body feels to move. Close your eyes and just feel and move to the music as Rose offers guidance and cues, whilst still enabling you to go with the flow.
Focussing and connecting inward as we move intuitively can be a very powerful experience. By immersing yourself in the experience, you will shift stagnant energies and you may feel uplifted and renewed.
You can bring your own drum(s), rattles, shakers etc if you have them, but there will be plenty of spares available.
This event promises to be fun and empowering! Looking forward to seeing you there!
What is Sound Therapy?
Sound therapy is the use of vibrational frequencies from instruments such as singing bowls, tuning forks, gongs, drums, and the human voice to support physical, emotional, and energetic healing.
From a scientific viewpoint, sound therapy is based on the principles of vibrational therapy and entrainment—where rhythmic sound patterns influence brainwave states. For example, certain frequencies are shown to stimulate alpha or theta brainwaves, associated with relaxation and deep meditation. Vibrations from sound waves can also stimulate the vagus nerve and other parts of the nervous system, helping to lower heart rate, reduce cortisol levels, and promote a parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) response. Some research even suggests that sound frequencies can influence cellular function and support pain reduction or mood improvement.
From a spiritual perspective, they work with the idea that everything in the universe—including the human body—vibrates at a specific frequency. When these natural frequencies become imbalanced due to stress, trauma, or illness, sound therapy can be used to help realign the body’s energy systems, clear blockages, and restore harmony. Many traditions view sound as a direct bridge to deeper states of consciousness, often facilitating meditative, trance-like experiences that promote insight, peace, and spiritual connection.
In essence, sound therapy combines ancient wisdom with emerging science to create a deeply restorative experience that nurtures both the physical body and the subtle energy systems.
